Collections can easily raise over £100 per collector in just a few hours, and are a fantastic way of raising awareness of both Operation Smile and the cleft condition, as well as being a lot of fun!

Liz Pinchen, a dedicated fundraiser and Burketeer, had a blast at a bucket collection in Cambridge last month. She took to the streets spreading awareness and raising over £200 for Operation Smile - now that's definitely something to smile about!.

Here's what Liz had to say about her experience;

"Taking part in the Bucket Collection was a really enjoyable experience. As Cambridge is my home city I was able to  ensure Operation Smile were within their allowed location and suggested where we might be best to stand.

I felt a bit worried beforehand, concerned I wouldn't actually get any donations, but was soon reassured with the first coins landing in my bucket.Some people stopped and donated  because they knew about Operation Smile and some just stopped to find out who we were and what charity we were collecting for.

It was interesting to talk to different people and to raise awareness of the fantastic work of Operation Smile. If there is a collection happening near you then I would definitely recommend getting involved - it is so much fun and Operation Smile are pleasure to work with".
